While camping beside a lake, in the wilderness, is nice, I love sailing whether on Long Island Sound, east of Greenwich, Connecticut, or out on the ocean, dancing with the wind. Trimming the sails to get the most out of the wind, renewable energy, is in harmony with nature. See http://www.alphamagic.org for a picture of "Alpha Magic", which is still coming my way. How would you like to take the helm for a while?
Awesome John!
Hi Kim,
I look forward to having Alpha Magic in the form of a Discovery 55. Did you go to http://www.alphamagic.org? I have a wealth of info there.

MY experience is that within a minute or two of casting off the dock lines, everyone is in a trance, a different world. I encourage people to turn off their cell phones. If I put you at the helm, I will guide as needed, to watch were you're going, to watch other traffic; the tug boat and barges have right of weight, besides legal right of way because they are far less maneuverable; I will coach you as needed on trimming the sails to get the most out of the wind.

And you'll gain a new level of self confidence as you discover that you are a sailor, that you can navigate, and much more. It's part of empowerment coaching. I'll teach you to become aware of the wind on your face, neck.

and at day's end, to drop anchor in a peaceful anchorage, prepare dinner, it's a different world, and it can be ultra refreshing, and I have found that in the evening, my mind often comes up with some great ideas.

"We cannot control the wind, but we can adjust our sails."

Love your site John. How much time do you spend on board?
We headed up to Winter Park, Colorado this weekend for some get away and great hiking time. On Saturday it was snowing in the morning, the rest of the weekend was warm. Beautiful, rejuvenating and relaxing!

Spring time in the Rockies! This is what we woke to after a day in the 50's yesterday. The forecast called for maybe 1 inch of snow over the next 24 hour period....um, not so much.

We were planning a loop hike tomorrow, but since the forecast calls for snow through tomorrow evening we may have to revise our plans. Although...this could all melt off in a matter of hours so...come on sunshine!

Hi,

Here's one of themany things I do to enjoy the outdoors!

Hiking in South West Colorado for Mother's Day last weekend. Lot's of meandering rivers & ponds to capture our attention and beckon us in.

Beautiful hiking today at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Is anyone else enjoying the fantastic fall weather?
I go camping to slow down, reconnect with nature (I grew up in the woods, now in Boston), and come back to myself. I do much more walking, because it's beautiful-no buildings! And, a real treat, meditate on campfires!
