Alright Everyone,
I know everyone is so so busy these days and finding time to workout, do yoga and eat healthy almost seems impossible. I wanted to get some opinions before I launch my Skype personal training sessions. How many of you out there would like one on one personal training over Skype? Some pros would be someone live watching your form, personable, real life motivation, and one who is able to push you based on your individual fitness level. The con would be a little more pricey. So what are your thoughts?

Comment by Jared Anderson on February 10, 2012 at 7:41pm Thanks for the support. Ya recording is a good idea. Also thinking of coming out with my own workout videos to sell on my website to make residual income. Trying to think of creative ways to make residual income with training. The hard part is always being so busy.
Comment by Reba Charleston on February 10, 2012 at 2:41pm Thanks for the update, Jared! I agree with Kim about evolving the process, which is normal with any/everything we do in life, right? I don't use Skype much, but is there an opportunity to tape the session, so your client may be able to see her form, and use the recording to review and improve?
Comment by Kim Peterson on February 10, 2012 at 1:40pm Good for you Jared. I am sure that as you progress you will continually streamline and improve upon the process. Getting started is half the battle. Great job!
Comment by Jared Anderson on February 10, 2012 at 9:03am So the session went great. It was actually an initial consultation where I was getting to know her and what her issues are. I actually mailed her a medical questionnaire, and release of liability forms before training. The session went well except for going over 30 minutes. I need to be more cautious of my time. The only negative that I had was while showing her the workouts and watching her perform them we had to change angles of the camera quite a few times. Other than that it was good. I think there is a solution for this though. Overall I would say it was 90% positive :) I am charging 35.00 per half hour session and 50 per hour session. If they purchase a monthly package or more I offer discounts. Great experience and from my own home :)
Comment by Kim Peterson on February 10, 2012 at 7:21am This sounds like a great concept Jared. Can I ask what you are charging? I think it is great that your client has the obligation to show up & if they travel, they can take you with them. Let us know logistically how well Skype worked for you. We are cheering you on!!
Comment by Reba Charleston on February 10, 2012 at 7:02am Oh, that makes sense - more expensive than a one-time purchase of a home workout system. I'm excited for you Jared, and am certain you'll give them a great sweat! I'd love to hear how it goes, whether you discover more 'pros' and 'cons'.
Good luck!
Reba
Comment by Jared Anderson on February 10, 2012 at 6:55am Reba,
Thanks for your input. I agree with you. About the comment of being more expensive, I meant more than if they just bought p90x or insanity workouts on Blue Ray or DVD. I actually have my first client today! Wish me luck.
Best,

Comment by Reba Charleston on February 9, 2012 at 9:47pm Hi Jared, it sounds like a unique idea, especially for anyone who may have anxiety about going to the gym. One of the cons would be the person you are training has to have whatever equipment on hand - which may not be an issue if you use bands, low weights, or household items for their workouts. I don't understand why the sessions would be more pricey - and more pricey than what? If you were in person? If the sessions were at the gym?
